Aiming to continuously provide the Camarinenses with employment opportunities as a step closer to their goals in life, the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur, through the CamSur Public Employment Service Office (PESO), in collaboration with the local government unit of Libmanan, conducted the Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan, Job and Business Fair 2023 on February 17, 2023 at the Libmanan Cultural Center.

“Wala po tayong ibang gustong gawin kundi ang makatulong sa ating mga kababayan na makahanap ng disenteng trabaho. We want to make your dreams come true, that’s why we make sure that we give quality service. Kaya sa mga susunod na job fair at recruitment activities, apply lang po kayo ng apply. Huwag kayong magsasawa at ‘wag kayong mawawalan ng pag-asa,” said Rodresha Torallo, CamSur PESO Manager, as she welcomed the applicants, participating local and overseas companies, and the partner agencies at the Job and Business Fair.

Government agencies such as the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and Social Security System (SSS) were also present to provide services necessary for the processing of employment requirements.

Among the hundreds of applicants who tried their luck to over 7,200 job openings, posted by 19 local and 6 overseas companies, was the 22-year-old first time jobseeker Jenny Sumalino of Bical, Libmanan.

As a fresh graduate with no prior employment, Sumalino sees the activity as a big help to applicants like her who cannot afford costly job hunting and job interviews especially to far locations.

Sumalino applied to several local companies’ office work-related vacancies with hopes of landing her first job.

Apart from the residents of Libmanan, residents of neighboring towns also went to the activity with hopes of achieving their dreams by securing a decent job. Among the successful applicants who were hired was the 21-year-old Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management graduate, Ruben Vilar of Del Rosario, Naga City.

Prior to the job fair, a Special Recruitment Activity was conducted by the CamSur PESO with over 1,875 of job openings abroad were offered to skilled workers like Vilar. He applied to LEAD Resources Management Corporation as a barista bound to Kuwait.

After getting accepted for the job, Vilar believes that having related work experience and proper skills training has helped him finish the application process triumphantly. “Dahil for deployment na ako, siyempre ninenerbyos ta first time ko mag-abroad asin mawalay sa pamilya. Pero sabi ngani ninda, kaipuhan ta ini para makaangat kita sa buhay. Kaya an nagmo-motivate sako [is] my family and my baby. Kaya need ko talagang maghigos sa buhay ta maklase naman ito,” related Vilar.

Although this is his first time to work abroad and away from his family, his fear and anxiousness did not stop him from working on his dream of providing a better life for his family.

With the initiative of the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur, along with the partner agencies’ unceasing support and shared goals, livelihood and employment activities and programs like this will keep on providing the people of CamSur the capability to boost their current status in life.
