The Provincial Government of Camarines Sur, through the Southeast Asian Institute of Computer Technology (SEAICT), in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), has granted scholarships to 25 students for the 3-year Diploma Course in Hotel Services and Restaurant Management (HSRM). Classes officially commenced on December 10, 2025 at the SEAICT Office, Panganiban Drive, Naga City.
The HSRM program encompasses core competencies in Front Office Services, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage Services, Bartending, Events Management Services, and Customer Service, leading to TESDA NC II and III certifications. Students undergo institutional assessments to determine their mastery of specific units, receiving a certificate of achievement upon completion of each unit of competency.
“For the past 20 years, we have been offering training programs to students for free. Right now, we are very honored to receive a grant from TESDA for the scholarship under HSRM. The advantage of taking this course is that, apart from the diploma course that students will be getting, they will also have national certificates,” said Paolo Rey Piaña, Department Head of English Proficiency Program (EPP).
“If students wish to pursue other college courses, they can use all the minor subjects they have taken here, and these will all be credited since we are under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Our students must also train in technical and professional skills because there are a lot of opportunities abroad. Studying here will be really a big help for them to be competitive in the professional world,” furthered Piaña
As a matter of policy, graduates of TESDA-registered programs are required to undergo mandatory national competency assessments upon completion of their studies.
Among the scholars is 35-year-old Cynthia Ted from Mabolo, Naga City. A dedicated housewife, Cynthia expressed her gratitude for the opportunity.
“Dakulang tabang po ini samo, lalo sa arog ko na plain housewife na nagbu-budgeting kaya maogma po ako. And dakulang tabang po talaga ini dahil si dai ko nagibo kadto, magigibo ko na ngunyan. Saka number one, libre na, igwa pang allowances,”
she said.
“Looking forward po na makakua akong magayon na trabaho saka ma-enhance pa po ang knowledge [and skills] ko about sa pagbi-business. Kung may opportunity po ako para mag-work abroad, ma-abroad po ako. Pero ang pinakaplano ko po talaga is magnegosyo digdi,” she added.
The technical and professional skills offered through this program open doors to numerous career opportunities, both locally and internationally. In addition to HSRM, SEAICT offers various skill-based and language training programs that Camarinenses can avail, all for free. Under the leadership of Governor Lray Villafuerte, these initiatives continue to empower Camarinenses to become a world-class, competitive workforce.
