Learning the Ropes

These young Bicolanos (right photo) learn to tie knots while Marlon Pares (left photo) tries his hands on actual rock climbing. The group composed of Pares (team leader), Paul Ables, Louie Zulueta and Songnam Berunio were sent to Chang Mai, Thailand by Governor LRay Villafuerte to train to become skilled rock climbing instructors along with the human resource development thrust of the governor.  The core group will serve as guides and rock climbing instructors to foreign and local tourists at Gota, Caramoan where towering natural rock formations abound which are very suitable for climbing. Gov. LRay envisions rock climbing as potential tourist attraction in his continuing initiatives to further spur extreme sports and adventure tourism in the province. stn/marlonpares/mmec
