Turnover of farm inputs, tools to EU beneficiaries set this October
PILI, CamSur. The provincial government has slated the distribution of the first tranche of inputs, tools and the implementation of other interventions to beneficiaries of the European Union-funded food productivity program in selected target barangays of four municipalities of Camarines Sur this October, 2010.
The target barangays in Tigaon, Buhi, Ocampo and Sagnay have already completed the requirements of the project by undergoing the social preparation training and organizing into community-based groups.
Some 2,000 farmers, fishermen, vegetable growers and livestock raisers in the target barangays are expected to benefit from the EU funded program.
The target beneficiaries who will engage in rice farming will receive fertilizers, certified palay seeds, urea and complete fertilizer and irrigation pumps per organized group. Vegetable growers will receive seeds and garden tools for organic farming.
Corn seeds and fertilizers will be distributed to corn growers while fishing nets will be given to beneficiaries engaged in aqua-culture.
In Tigaon, barangay Libod has been identified for corn production whereas barangays Tinawagan, Gaao, Cabalinadan, Libod, Consocep and Coyaoyao have already been pinpointed for vegetable cultivation and livestock raising.
In Buhi, some areas in barangays Burocbusoc, Tambo and Cabatuan opted to plant corn while barangays Iraya, Ipil, Ibayugan, Tambo, have chosen to engage in livestock production and barangays Cabatuan and Salvacion in aqua-culture.
In Ocampo, barangay Villaflorida has identified areas for corn and vegetable production and livestock raising. Barangays San Francisco, La Purisima, Cagmanaba, Old Moriones, Cabariwan Ayugan, Hanawan, San Roque, May-Ogob and Hibago are to engage in rice production. On the other hand, barangays Gatbo, San Francisco, Pinit, Hibago and San Jose Oras are into vegetable growing while barangays Pinit, San Francisco, San Jose Oras and Gatbo to take up livestock raising/production.
In Sagnay, the coastal barangays of Sto. Niño and Nato are to engage in fishng. Barangays Catalotoan, Kilantaao, Tinurongan, Aniog, Minadongjol, Buracan, Turague and Kilomaon are in rice farming while some areas of Minadangjol and Kilomaon in corn production. Stn/MMEC
