PILI, CamSur.  The provincial government has slated the distribution of the first tranche of inputs, tools and the implementation of other interventions to beneficiaries of the European Union-funded food productivity program in selected target barangays of four municipalities of Camarines Sur this October, 2010.

The target barangays in Tigaon, Buhi, Ocampo and Sagnay have already completed the requirements of the project by undergoing the social preparation training and organizing into community-based groups.

Some 2,000 farmers, fishermen, vegetable growers and livestock raisers in the target barangays are expected to benefit from the EU funded program.

The target beneficiaries who will engage in rice farming will receive fertilizers, certified palay seeds, urea and complete fertilizer and irrigation pumps per organized group. Vegetable growers  will receive seeds and garden tools for organic farming.

Corn seeds and fertilizers will be distributed to corn growers while fishing nets will be given to beneficiaries engaged in aqua-culture.
