Provl Development Council passes P4.5 Billion investment budget

PILI, CamSur – To take advantage of the development momentum the province has gained in the last few years, the Provincial Development Council passed a comprehensive and ambitious development agenda with a grand total of P4,511,854,781.76 focused on agricultural programs and projects.

The agricultural development budget which was allotted P1.78 Billion includes, among others the establishment of the CamSur Food Terminal earmarked P.5 Billion, broad-based commercial high-value crops production with P50 Million, agricultural technology research and development and support services with P85 Million, livestock and poultry development programs with P60 Million, and other agricultural and food security projects.

Environment and climate change-related programs was given P10 Million, coastal resource management and birds and other wildlife conservation projects P89 Million, forest resource management projects P40 Million, water treatment facilities P20.5 Million, sanitary landfill projects for each district a total of P20 Million aside from many other related programs.

Tourism development programs were allocated P396.8 Million, infrastructure development projects P0.5 Billion, social services a total of P1.37 Billion, health-related programs P1.1 Billion and housing and resettlement programs P10 Million, sports and development programs P100 Million and general public services P1.362 Billion.

The 2011 annual investment plan which reflects marked increase from last year’s development agenda is projected to be funded to a significant extent from income from economic activities and entrepreneurial ventures launched by the provincial government, according to Vice Governor Fortunato C Peña who presided over the meeting of the Provincial Development Council.   GBC/mmec
