PILI, CamSur – In a first of its kind of sports competition ever to be held worldwide, an international cast of riders are set to prove their mettle in the ultimate clash of the titans as Governor LRay Villafuerte brings to the CamSur Sur Watersports Complex (CWC), the best cable park in the world, the Ultimate Wake Championships on January 19 to 23, 2011.
The Ultimate Wake Championships (UWC) is the last and final stop of the World Wakeboard Association (WWA) World Series 2010, covering three major disciplines of wake sports - boat, cable and System 2.0 Winch – where the CWC in CamSur is the only facility in the world that can handle the three events in a simultaneous competition.
The UWC kicked-off last June at Nieuwegein in the Netherlands, moved to Hamburg in Germany, to Antalaya in Turkey and will wind up for the final and last stop in CamSur of the Philippines.
The competition is described to be the largest wake event ever to be staged with the biggest prize purse at stake.
To be staged in eight categories – Pro Men, Obstacles Only, Junior Men, Pro Wakeskate, Open Women and Open Women Wakeskate, CWC Rain Park Contest and Cam Sur Riders Cup.
A mammoth attendance of top-seeded riders is expected with winter having closed other established wake parks in temperate countries.
The awesome cast of elite riders from some 30 countries all around the world include the formidable Republic Riders composed of riding prodigy 12-year old Daniel Grant, the Asian Wakefest 2010 champion at the CWC last November, Nick Taylor, Andrew Pastura and Kim Yong Il, elite professional wakeboarders Keith Lidberg, Tom Foshee, Lior Sofer, Chad Sharpe and Philip Soven.
Wakeskate stand-outs will include Ben Horan, Ben Labadens, Bret Little and Reed Hansen.
On top of the wake competitions is a magnificent array of out-of-the-world nightly parties and contests featuring famous bands, disk jockeys and entertainers.
The first of the repertoire of nightly entertainment for the duration of the five-day event is the welcome party dubbed High Roll Casino Royale. In partnership with PAGCOR, the whole venue will be transformed into a casino with poker tables and slot machines where attendees who are enjoined to come in their Al Capone hats may make small bets while being entertained by the Bellestar Dancers, the Street Magicians and Issa Litton.
The second evening is the Comic Strip Night where party-goers will come decked-out in their favorite comic strip characters and watch comic strip and anime show presentations while being entertained by tandem hosts Daniel Marsh and the comedian actress Giselle Sanchez. There will be a contest on the best costumes where the first prize gets P5,000, Second P3,000 and the third best costume gets P2,000.00.
Third night, January 21, is Black Light Party night, the bikini-clad and body-painted guests glowing in the black-lit night with top-rate entertainment courtesy of the All Star Dancers and Brigada Band.
Fourth night is extreme ambience entertainment, where the party-goers may choose to freeze while guzzling martinis at the Ice Bar or sweat with tropical concoctions at the Volcano Bar while enjoying fire-juggling and angle grinding shows in an ambience of living tree human statues adorned with snow and icicles, body painted red hot pole dancers spiced with presentations from the Pussycat Dolls of the Philippines and the Pretty Young Thing (P.Y.T.).
Finale night will be the Ultimate Awards Night that will see the crowning of the world’s most diverse wake riders and awarding of other prizes. GBClaveria/MMEC
