Gov. Villafuerte takes oath as new LPP executive veep
Also elected as representative to ULAP
PILI, CamSur – In another development that all but further confirms and fortifies his popularity and leadership, Governor LRay Villafuerte, together with other officers, took his oath before President Noynoy Aquino as the new executive vice president of the League of Provinces of the Philippines during the mass oath-taking ceremony held at the Heroes Hall of the Malacañang Palace Tuesday, July 20.
Aside from the EVP post which virtually makes him third most influential member of the organization, Governor Villafuerte was also selected to be LPP’s representative to the umbrella group of local government executives Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines (ULAP).
The LPP is the official organization of provincial governors of all provinces of the Philippines as mandated by R.A. 7160, the Local Government Code of 1991, where Gov. Villafuerte first served as deputy secretary general in 2004 up to 2007 during his first term as provincial executive, and thereafter the LPP’s top honcho as national chairman when he was reelected for his second.
Governor Villafuerte holds the rare distinction of being only the second local political leader of Camarines Sur to be elected successively for the maximum three terms. The first is his father and predecessor now congressman of the new third district of province Luis R. Villafuerte who is LPP’s first president and likewise served as national chairman.
