Former President Fidel Ramos keynotes CamSur “Eco-Mismo” Feb. 27

PILI. CamSur – Former president Fidel V. Ramos and Governor LRay Villafuerte will take center stage at the Camarines Sur Convention Center Saturday, February 27 at the environmentalist forum dubbed “Eco-Mismo: The Philippine Conference on Ecotourism and Eco-Productivity”.
President Ramos is scheduled to arrive early Friday, February 26, for a tour of tourism development projects in the province specially tourism centrepieces Camarines Sur Watersports Complex (CWC), Gota Village Resort in Caramoan and the Information Technology Park right at the Provincial Capitol Complex, stay overnight, and personally oversee the conduct of the conference on Saturday.
The multi-sectoral conference expected to be attended by the key tourism players and stakeholders in the region is spearheaded by the Ramos Peace and Development Foundation, Inc. (RPDEV) chaired by Ramos, in partnership with the Department of Tourism, Department of Environment and Natural Resource and the Province of Camarines Sur with Governor LRay Villafuerte as co-chairman of Eco-Mismo CamSur.
On February 27, President Ramos himself will be keynote speaker of the half-day Eco-Mismo forum at the Convention Center that will focus on promoting awareness, sharing best practices and policy and development aspects of ecotourism and eco-productivity as well as other RPDEV’s advocacies which include the global warming threat and prevailing economic crises.
Governor Villafuerte will be among the major resource speakers lined-up, assigned to discourse on “Ecotourism in the Province of Camarines Sur”, expectedly integrated into the conference’s agenda considering the quantum leap the province has made in the areas of tourism and environment protection in the last few years.
Camarines Sur was recipient of last year’s Presidential Citation for Best Practice in Tourism Development and among the frontrunners in popularity as choice destination for domestic and foreign arrivals and selected by international publications as the world’s top eco-tourism destination.
Other topics and resource speakers include a primer “Introduction to Eco-Productivity” to be presented by APO/DAP(TBA), “Presentation of Best Practices for Eco-Productivity by Cleanway Technology Corp. chairman Herminio Esguerra, “Developing Ecotourism Sites” Tourism and Hospitality Consultants’ Asia Pacific Projects president and Eco-Mismo chairperson Narzalina Z. Lim, “Ecotourism and Eco-Productivity: The El Niño Experience” by Ten Knots Development Corp. CEO Leigh T. Perez, and “The Challenges of Climate Change and Tourism” by WWF Philippines board of trainees vice-chairman Lorenzo Tan. (GBClaveria/MMEC)
