Gov. LRay elated with PNoy’s special accolade at SONA
PILI, CamSur – It was evidently with some surprise and considerable elation that Governor LRay Villafuerte responded to numerous well-wishers who called and members of the media that successively interviewed him in the wake of his being mentioned in the State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered by President Noynoy Aquino at the inaugural joint session of the 15th Congress, Monday afternoon, July 26. Of the numerous local and national officials at the Batasang Pambansa, Governor Villafuerte was among the very few singled-out and accorded recognition by the president in his first-ever state of the nation address to the people. In an interview, the governor admits that the accolade must have been a direct result of a recent visit he made at Malacañang where he presented a proposal to the president of how to help higher government address prevailing national concerns.

Camarines Sur sports buffs are seemingly unfazed by the daunting exhibition of speed, strength and stamina demonstrated by visiting participants during the maiden staging of the Ironman 70.3 Philippines here last year, also the very first such international event to be held in the country, and were among the first to enrol their participation even with the skirmishes still over two months away. Over 800 have already registered to date, a big number of them homegrown triathletes confident enough to pit their skills and staying power against the big names of international triathlon tourneys coming from no less than 34 countries around the globe who will be competing in 12 professional and age categories and four relay categories – all female, all male, mixed and corporate.
