Corn technicians undergo corn production workshop
PILI, Cam Sur – Twenty-seven (27) corn technicians throughout the Bicol Region, nine of them coming from province of Camarines Sur are now undergoing Training of Trainers on corn production. Held at the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in Guinobatan, Albay, the workshop started last week of June and is slated to culminate in the month of September.
The corn technicians will be taught various aspects of corn production, more particularly on the recent trends and technology pertaining to this crop.
Gov. LRay, provincial and municipal officials sworn into office

Thus, in a nutshell, Governor LRay Villafuerte vowed to over two thousand CamSur constituents composed of newly elected and reelected provincial and municipal officials, community leaders and supporters after taking his oath of office before RTC Branch 25 Presiding Judge Jaime F. Contreras for the third successive term as provincial executive Wednesday morning, June 30, at the Convention Center of the Provincial Capitol Complex in barangay Cadlan here. Governor Villafuerte holds the distinction of being only the second governor of the province to be elected for the maximum three successive terms, a record previously solely achieved by his father now congressman of the new third district of Camarines Sur Luis R. Villafuerte, whom he succeeded.
Gov. LRay attends GK Singapore Summit
CamSur Gov. LRay Villafuerte was among the prominent personalities who joined the country’s delegation to the 2nd Gawad Kalinga (GK) Summit held in Singapore Friday, June 25, 2010. It was spearheaded by GK founder Antonio Meloto and sponsored by the Singaporean government in partnership with schools like Ngee Ann Polytechnic and National University of Singapore for Social Entrepreneurship and Philanthropy. Joining vice president Noli De Castro, who was the guest of honor during the occasion, the young governor was part of the various delegations from countries such as Singapore, Cambodia, Indonesia, United States and Australia who came to hear different speakers from the academe, the business sector and government share their involvement in nation building and community development. Gawad Kalinga was founded in 1995 as a non-profit organization engaged in building houses for the poor communities in the Philippines and other developing countries. Moreover, it helps develop livelihood programs for the poor to support their daily needs. To date, there are about 2,000 GK communities in countries such as the Philippines, Cambodia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
